A guide to buying personalised jewellery
Choosing a name necklace
Most of what we make is personalised, and almost all of it starts the same way — a first name in one of our twelve house scripts. Single-name necklaces sit best at 16–18 inches; if you are layering, order one at 16" and one at 20" so the pendants clear each other. For two or more names, the multiple name necklaces keep the letters at a readable size where a single long name would thin out. Names of nine characters or more are cut in a heavier gauge at no extra cost.
Metals, and what they actually mean
18ct gold plating is a microns-thick layer of 18ct gold over a brass core — our best-selling finish, and the right one for a piece that is worn occasionally. Vermeil is the same gold over solid sterling silver, so nothing but precious metal touches skin; it is the finish to choose for daily wear or sensitive skin. Sterling silver is solid 925 throughout, and platinum plating gives a cooler white that will not yellow. Every finish is nickel-free — the bar under each product above shows which of the six that piece is cut in.
Personalisation, making and delivery
You type the name, choose a font and a finish, and we cut it to order — nothing on this page is picked off a shelf. Standard pieces leave the workshop in 24 hours; the next day necklace range is cut, polished and posted the same working day when ordered before 2pm. Solid gold and engraved pieces take three to five days. UK delivery is tracked, and every order arrives in a gift box — you write your gift message on the product’s own page, just above Add to bag, at the same time as you choose the name. Frequently asked
How long does a personalised piece take to make?
Every piece is cut to order. Most orders leave our workshop within 24 hours, and anything in the Next Day Necklace collection is made and posted the same working day if you order before 2pm. Solid gold, solid silver and hand-engraved pieces take three to five working days.
Which metal should I choose?
For everyday wear choose vermeil — 18ct gold over solid sterling silver, so only precious metal touches the skin. For an occasional piece, 18ct gold plating gives the same colour at a lower price. Sterling silver and platinum plating both give a cool white finish. All six finishes are nickel-free.
Can I return something personalised?
Yes. Although personalised items are exempt from the standard distance-selling rules, we accept returns on any piece within 30 days of delivery provided it is unworn — including personalised ones. Faulty or mis-cut pieces are remade free of charge with no time limit.
What font styles can I have?
Twelve house scripts, from the classic flowing Anna through to the modern block Zara. You can preview your own name in every one of them on any product page before you add it to the basket — the preview shows the real cut, not a rendering of a similar font.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Yes, we ship worldwide with tracking, and prices are shown in your local currency automatically. European and US orders typically arrive in three to six working days. Duties are prepaid at checkout for the EU, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so nothing is charged on arrival.
How do I look after gold-plated jewellery?
Put it on last and take it off first — perfume, hairspray and chlorine are what wear plating down, not everyday use. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth after wearing and keep it in the pouch it arrived in. Looked after that way, an 18ct plated piece keeps its colour for years.
